Denver Civic Center Fourth of July Fireworks 2011

The City and County of Denver fireworks display launched from atop the City and County building on the west side of Civic Center for a crowd of thousands at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday, July 3, 2011.

Here’s a complete slideshow (well, not complete — I took about 100 photos during the fireworks show, but a lot of them look pretty much the same. This is the full-of-variety version!) from the event:

I was at f/11 and ISO 200 the whole time, and the shutter speed was between 1-1/3 and 2-1/2 seconds. Most were 1-1/3 or 1-2/3 seconds. I use a tripod, obviously, but I forgot my remote shutter button so I was just holding the body and tripod down firmly with one hand and depressing the shutter gently and holding it until it closed again trying to avoid any shake. A few shots had slight shake that’s very obvious because of the longer exposure time, but most came out better than I’d hoped. Thanks!
