Fourth of July at Denver’s Civic Center 2011

Denver Civic Center Fourth of July Fireworks 2011Daniel Schneider | Scrollwright

The City and County of display launched from atop the City and County building on the west side of for a crowd of thousands at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday, July 3, 2011.

Here’s a complete slideshow (well, not complete — I took about 100 photos during the fireworks show, but a lot of them look pretty much the same. This is the full-of-variety version!) from the event:

Great photos! You really captured the variety very well. Amateur question: What shutter speed did you use? And F-stop?u00a0

I was at f/11 and ISO 200 the whole time, and the shutter speed was between 1-1/3 and 2-1/2 seconds. Most were 1-1/3 or 1-2/3 seconds. I use a tripod, obviously, but I forgot my remote shutter button so I was just holding the body and tripod down firmly with one hand and depressing the shutter gently and holding it until it closed again trying to avoid any shake. A few shots had slight shake that’s very obvious because of the longer exposure time, but most came out better than I’d hoped. Thanks!
